Architects design and supervise the construction of a wide range of structures. Retail Store Designing An interior designer graduate can also function as a retail store designer, in charge of creating floor plans and architectural drawings for new stores as well as redesigning older outlets for purposes of renovation, relocation, expansion, or general remodeling. A retail store designer has to supervise not only the technical aspects of the construction, but also work with the business staff to understand the company's mission, vision, marketing and branding strategies so that the resulting design serves the company's business model. It takes an articulate, experienced person who is good in planning and knows the intricacies of retail design to be a retail store designer. Space Planning A space planner is an interior designer who specializes in organizing an interior for an optimum balance between efficiency and livability, productivity and workflow. The space planner works in a number of settings ranging from schools to IT centers and various industrial and commercial locations, designing and planning layouts to optimize the location of equipment, furniture and other fixtures. He or she conducts research to find out how to best utilize a given location and also plan for future company needs. These are only several career tracks that an interior design program graduate can wind up in.
